Complaints Policy
At Amesbury Dental Care we want to ensure that all our patients are pleased with their experience of our service. We take complaints very seriously indeed. If a patient makes a complaint, we will deal with the matter courteously and promptly so that it is resolved as quickly as possible. Our complaints policy and procedures are based on these objectives.
We display the General Dental Council’s 6 core principles for ensuring that we get the most from patient feedback and complaints for the benefit of all in Notice board by reception.
At Amesbury Dental Care we have an effective complaints system in place to ensure that identifying, receiving, recording, handling and responding to any comments, observations, concerns or complaints occurs within a strict timetable that is clearly documented. Our Code of Practice for patients who wish to raise concerns is displayed in Notice board by reception and all patients and visitors should feel confident that they will be listened to and responded to without fear of discrimination or recrimination. Our Complaints Policy and Procedures are kept in Notice board by reception.
We aim to ensure that any complainant is treated sensitively and in a manner that respects their human rights and diversity.
We recognise that a complaint is any expression of dissatisfaction with our service, treatment or advice and that a complaint can be made by a variety of methods, including verbally, by sign language or in writing.
In situations where a patient may lack confidence to express their views, or require help to do so, they will be supported by helpful team members. All patients’ complaints are fully documented and investigated and are dealt with fairly.
At Amesbury Dental Care we view complaints as an opportunity to improve our service delivery and to learn lessons that will help us make changes with the intention of avoiding a repetition of any similar complaint.
To help us learn lessons from complaints, we track and analyse all our complaints to identify trends that will help us improve our service.
Our complaints procedures are monitored and reviewed regularly and the named contact who is accountable for doing this is Geetika Parson/Molly Hodgetts.
You can raise your concerns by email at Amesburydentalcare@gmail.com or by calling 01980623004. We will acknowledge the complaint in 3 working days and endeavour to send you a first reponse in 10 working days .
This policy and relevant procedures will be reviewed annually and are due for review on 15/02/2026 or prior to this date in accordance with new guidance or legislative changes or as a result of learnings following a complaint.
Look after your NHS Dental Registration or you may lose it?
Did you know that in order to keep your NHS dental registration at our practice you need to attend regularly?
Many of our patients forget to make regular visits to see their dentist. And then, before they realise, it’s been nearly two years!
Due to the high number of people wishing to receive NHS dental treatment and the very long waiting lists, we have no choice but to de-register patients who have not attended for two years or more.
What to do to keep your registration?
Always attend any appointment booked, or cancel the appointment more than 24 hours in advance.
Make sure you book your next dental examination before you leave the practice. Whether it’s three, six, nine or even twelve months in advance, our reception teams will help you make your next appointment, and send you reminders nearer the time as well.
Check and update your contact details
Be sure they are correct, especially your email address and mobile phone, if you have one. If we can keep in touch with you, then we can help you keep on track so you don’t miss your appointment.
If you are caring for an older person, then help them to keep up their registration too by tracking their appointments for them.
If you have not booked an appointment, please contact us to make an appointment at your earliest convenience.
Once you have been de-registered, you are no longer able to receive NHS treatment at our practice. If you want to receive NHS treatment again, you will need to contact the NHS and join the waiting list. As NHS waiting lists are long, it may be some time before you can join another practice. So our recommendation is that you protect your registered status.
